I love this one! It is similar to the games where you have to complete the pipe maze so that the ball goes all the way to the exit. Only in this you creatively arrange the musical pipes for different musical sounds. I think I played with it for 30 minutes last night. Give this one a try. Two thumbs up!

I have been busy this weekend so I really let the posting get behind. Now I have four day off which I will be a little busy during. I will try to get a few good posts off and stuff. Right now I am going to Fry's and look at a cheap tower they sell for under $200. It might make a good upgrade so I can take the 400 mhz comp my kid uses and give it to charity.

At the Movies!

Last night we bought The Incredibles. I had heard that it was Pixars best movie yet and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the movie a lot. The plot was good and the characters well developed. However I did find two things about the movie to be obvious.

The first was that it was a mix of the X-men and The Fantastic Four. Everyone is against the Supers very similar to the Mutant problem of the X-men. To some degree they all have powers like The Fantastic Four or similar comic heroes. I guess there is no real way to avoid such similarities with super heroes.

The second thing is the James Bond like scenario of the island and other gadgets throughout the movie. The travel pods, the car he drove in the beginning, the flying units and some of the other cool gadgets.

I found this funny and in no way take away from the movie. It is like other movies of this genre where you try to catch all the little things they put in to make it funny or more interesting.

The movie rates a 9 out of 10 for me.

On ABC there is a special show called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. This program goes above and beyond helping people with problems. On one particular show Ty and his team helped Kassandra and her family. Kassandra only wanted to makeover the childrens cancer ward of the Arizona hospital she had stay in by giving it a makeover. She only wanted to help the kids give them a better environment to to get healthy in. During the show she did that while Ty and his designers tore down their home and replaced it with a new home. Preston, one of the designers, wrote a book and had it illustrated by a talented artist whom I can not find the name of right at this moment.

Well, she makes bead necklaces and sells them to help further the cure for cancer. One of the designers created a bead room for her to create her necklaces in. Now there is a website that appears to be dedicated to her necklaces. She is incredible.

Last night at work I saw something strange. Something so out of place it was freaky. She was attractive. Her dress, hair and shoes were black as black could be. She had on the black lipstick. Her purse was huge, black and had a small white circle with a black spider embossed in the middle. Everything was Goth as Goth could be. Well not quite.

She was with her two normal, quite average looking children. It just threw the Goth picture out of joint. Two kids with blondish-brown hair. Both kid’s wearing cute attire and holding the hand of their Goth parental unit. Is it irony? Was it some form of artistic contrast purposely contrived to make people stop and stare? Only the Goth mom could say for sure.

How disturbing.

Health News

The ball continues to roll downhill. Now our doctor thinks that in-patient care is needed to help my wife. This news sort of stunned us. Work, kid, life and all that is tough now. Big decisions have to be made to accommodate the absence of my wife from the home unit. Kid has to have someone at home and I need to work.

Our doctor called the other day to let us know that she talked to some doctors at the Oregon Health and Science University. These doctors apparently have some interest in this phenomenon which my wife is experiencing. Great.

It is getting harder to be positive. I just want to explode. We just want things to get better and for her to be healthy again.

Check it out. It is amazing to watch as it creates the images of trees out of a website address.

I have added a few new links in the blog section. I like blogs with Flash or Shockwave content. Cartoons or games for the most part. Most of the blogs I have linked find some cool content.

There is also a new section in the links for my favorite comics. I usually start off the day reading all the comics. I am sure I can find even more comics I would enjoy reading but for the time being this is it. No need to bite off more than I can chew. I might choke.

Something wicked this way....came and went

Yesterday was a day of something else. First we had a parent teacher conference, then go shopping and go to a doctor's appointment. We were also waiting for the new roommate and his sister.

The parent - teacher conference was good. Rebecca is doing good in first grade. Reading is above normal. Math is good. Spelling is ok. Etc..

Shopping was ok. Spent too much money. Nothing new there.

On the way to the doctor's appoitment as we leave to go get gas for the automobile, I think to myself "I will see them pull into the turn lane to our street as I turn off my street to go get gas. Sure enough I did. Only when we went back after we had gotten the gas no one was at the apartment yet, so we had to fly to get to the appointment.

At the appointment my wife was having a bad day and the doctor noticed. She said she may have to go in for in-patient psycotherapy(?). That was like hitting a brick wall. We were and are very upset. I can only state this...it had better work or else.

We get back to the apartment, very upset, and there is a message from roommates sister to call her. They are waiting at the Target down the road because the directions were confusing. So, finally they are here and the long drive is over. 38 hours on the road.

Ok, time for whiskey. Get the HELL off my blog and go look at some porn!

On the road

Matt has left his comfortable home in St. Louis and started his long trip to here, Beaverton, Oregon. With his sister helping him drive and sight seeing they should arrive by at least Wednesday. I might be at work, though I will be off earlier than usual that day.

I wish them a fun and safe trip along the 2050 miles they must drive.

Another beautiful day here in Beaverton and I have to go to work tonight. Can it get any better than that? I bet on my days off it turns to rain.

Rebecca is getting ready to go watch the movie Robots with her best friend Stephanie. Amazing how fast your children grow up.

The manager writing the schedule at work messed things up for me. I talked to him about changing my hours after my wifes FMLA is up in a couple weeks. We are not sure if she will be able to work even though the doctors want her to try. So, instead of my normal schedule where I can work in doctor visits easily I work early and had to reschedule two appointments.

Matt should be leaving St. Louis sometime tomorrow. His sister will be helping drive while trying to sight see along the way. I am guessing they will get here Wednesday. Exciting!

I need something to eat. I'm out a here.

Clean room

After cleaning and all the fun stuff we have one room ready for our new roommate. I took a few pictures of the room so I could send him a look before he leaves St. Louis to drive all the way to Beaverton, Oregon.

Oh, and my teeth and gums are sensitive and sore from all the dental work. Advil is my friend right now.

Todays menu

We usually only have two real nights together so that is when I cook up a storm. Tonight we are having pot roast. Bought some chuck roast, onions, carrots and celery. Seared all that off and a bit of chopped garlic. Been cooking now for over 6 hours.

Also, I am going to cut up some taters and toss those in some olive oil and seasoning then bake them till near crispy. No room to add the potatoes to the crock pot so I am baking them.

That will make for some tasty leftovers.

I am also making bluebery muffins. The only thing is I do not like normal recipes so I improvised on a couple I found online. I am creating Coconut and lemon crunch blueberry muffins. I am hoping they turn out tasty. I even bought a stoneware muffin pan that is designed to make those large muffins. I don't want little muffins.

Almost awake

I have an appointment for deep root cleaning for one quarter of my teeth this morning. This could have been good napping time right now. The teeth are more important though. Got to get them cleaned or else. So, I woke up, helped get the kid ready for school and off to the bus stop. At the same time I prepped pot roast ingredients and started that cooking. Now I am showered and ready to go to the dentist. Last week cavities and this week deep cleaning. Later on, weeks I hope, I will have my wisdom teeth extracted. All four. Yeah!

On the bright side it is VERY nice outside. It has been sunny and warm for days. This Spring weather is so nice and all we got time for are appointments, appointments and some short relaxation periods. I will try to spend a minute or two enjoying the sun today. Even if it kills me.

I better get going.

Roommate update

Matt will be leaving earlier than orginally planned. He will be leaving five days early. His sister has offered to go with and help drive. Along the way though it is said she will try to sight see. It might take a bit longer than it should to drive, but at least he has company. Two thousand fifty two miles is a long drive.

The sister will then hop on Greyhound and return home.

Lipoma or not to Lipoma?

That is the question.

We just got back from two doctor visits. First one was her psychologist and the second one a general surgeon. The first is a routine visit. The latter was a referral for a lipoma, fatty tissue, that is in the exact spot her intense back pain is at. The surgeon said that he is certain the pain is not from the lipoma. It will not be removed at this time. Instead we will go for a pinched nerve or herniated disk treatment instead. Exercise and back brace type things.

So, tired of dead end doctor visits though. They cost money.

Spring cleaning?

All this getting ready for a roommate seems like a good excuse to spring clean. There are cob webs, dust, dirty walls, carpet stains and kid messes to be cleaned. Once this is all completed we might even reduce some of the allergies going around in this apartment.

This morning we moved all of Rebecca's furniture, clothes and toys into the clean and dry carpet room. Now my wife will clean the carpet in the empty room so we can move the futon in there for Matt. Once that is completed we can pick up the rest of the clutter in the hallway and front room.

The weather has been sunny and warm for days and days now, so I have opened the sliding glass door for the first fresh Spring air day. The screen door is shut and locked so the kitties cannot get out. I think that drives them nutty. The door is open, but still cannot get out. What a tease.

I finished working on my friend's friend computer. Hope he comes and gets it soon. Taking up space. I am also giving away my old HP inkjet 672c to a friend at work. I gave him our old, old computer and I figured he might like a print since he does not have one. I had to download the drivers for it though. I forgot I used the old floppy for a Win98 boot disk. I have 150 CDrs, but only one floppy. LOL

Things seem to be climbing up into "better" these days. It is a slow climb though. Very slow. Baby steps.

Everything is almost ready for when Matt gets here. The slow part now is waiting for the carpets to dry after the steam cleaning. Well, it is a cheap Bissel carpet cleaner. It doesn't really steam clean. After the carpet dries in the first room we will move all the stuff from the other room and clean the carpets in there. We also have a some more clutter to go through and put away.

It is strange having all this computer stuff out in the living room. It was nice to have that extra room, but in a time of need we must all make sacrifices.

I am currently fixing another computer. This computer belongs to a friend of a friend. The hard drive, a Western Digital, seems to have been crashed. There was power but everything I tried did nothing to show that is was alive. I even slaved it to my computer and nothing there. So, the friend that brought me the computer purchased a new Maxtor hard drive. I am setting it up now. I should have it ready by tomorrow.

The new Coca-Cola with Lime tastes yummy. No, it is not the diet one. I like it.

Oh! The cats are doing fine.

Decay and rearrangements

We just finished making and eating a bunch of spicy tuna hand rolls. One hell of a good meal. For those that don't understand or care for sushi all I can say is your missing out. The best part of it all is the soft, tender ahi ahi tuna melting in your mouth after you crunch through the outer nori wrap. The avacodo and spicy sauce just increase the wonderfulness of the moment.

I had to wait hours before eating this awesome meal. I had gone to the dentist at 2pm and they numbed up most of my mouth to get four cavities. I hate teeth. Really hate those things. Nothing we can do I guess.

We will be getting a roommate in a couple weeks. One way for us to try and make ends meet is to share the rent. He will be coming all the way from St. Louis, Missouri. Best guess is that it will be a four day drive. That will take some planning, so I wish him the best.

I am going to watch some television now. I need to relax after moving furniture around to get ready for the roommate. The extra room we use for a computer room is to be replaced by our child. It is going to be crowded with stuff in the front living room. Joy and happiness.

What to say?

My wife is slowly recovering. Stuttering, memory loss and all that is still there. She has disassociation disorder. She is viewing everything as if watching a movie and the movie is either too slow or too fast. This is not a good thing.

The pain in her back is bad and so we finally got the doctor to listen and check it out. There is a lump between two of the spinal disks that could be rubbing and inflaming the nerves. Xrays have been done and we wait for the call. This might be an out patient surgery thing. Crazy.

Financially we are ok for at least a few months. I have talked to a friend that needs a new chance in life. Where he lives now he is stuck in a rut of family and friends that bring him down instead of helping him get up. No support. I offered him a room which is over 2000 miles from where he is now so he can start fresh. He seems very serious in taking my offer and should try to move in the next 6-8 weeks.

Other than that I can think of nothing else important to mention.

Last night my wife and I went to the movies with several friends. "Constantine" was pretty good. I enjoyed it. Maybe all the critics need to look at it as a movie and not compare it to its origin. Then everyone came over for homemade tacos and vodka and whiskey and tequila. It was fun.

This afternoon Jason dropped by. I did his taxes and he promised me some Swedish vodka. He bought me Precis vodka. It is some smooth ass stuff. Cost a bit more than I would spend on a bottle of vodka, but it is good stuff. Right now my choice of vodka is Blue Ice. It is very tasty.

Well, I think I am going to watch some naughty internet type stuff. Go find someone else's blog to read.

Recovery is a slow thing

My wife is slowly doing better. Some of her memory returns. Her stuttering is clearing up. After yesterdays physical therapy session she was doing very well in fact. I still think it has something to do with the pain in her lower back. She has been complaining about it since the collapse. They did an ultra-sound message in PT on that area yesterday.

Last night she was all giggles. She has not laughed or giggled since the big C. That is a really good sign.

We went to a psychiatrist Monday. She treated my wife like a hostile patient. She seemed to have no idea why she was there or else she did and that is how she treats patients. I did not go into the office with her. Judy told me about it while she was dabbing at the tears welling from her eyes. I canceled her follow up appointments with that quack.

Last night I made a dish from Emeril's cooking show. We were watching it the night before last and just had to try it for ourselves. It was REALLY good.

I got things to do. Go read someone else's shit. GO ON! GET! SHOO!

My wife is doing a little better. She is seeing a psychologist and now we are told she should see a psychiatrist. I am concerned about this thing since we have no clue what is going on. It could last longer than the time FMLA gives her to be off from work. I, as well as family and friends, are all hoping for the best. It is not easy being calm when all you really wish to do is scream, yell, hit something or someone, hide or simply bang your head against a wall until you awake and realize this was a bad dream.

I would like to thank everyone for their support and concern. I know only a couple of people I know read this blog, but sometimes it feels nice just to get it out even if it is not seen.

There is a gang of links I have been saving up for a post. Once I get a few clear minded minutes I will post them.

My wife is doing ok. No major changes yet. Still waiting on appointments and the EEG test results.

My birthday is on the 12th and I plan on drinking some wine. Maybe it will help me relax my nerves a little.

Bad news

Well, this year started out and a very bad note. Jan 1st my wife collapsed, pasted out or whatever it might have been called. It was in the morning and when she recovered I figured she was doing ok. She has had dizzy spells before work before and that is what I thought had happened. Once she got to work though it hit her again, only this time she could not recognize people she worked with. Her mind seems to have short circuited when she fainted on that morning. Work called me and the paramedic. She was stuttering, twitching her neck and left hand a lot from then on till now. I would guess she has lost 15-20 percent of her memory. Just a guess. Some things have been slowly coming back to her so I feel good about that. She is scared and so am I.

I will try to write more about things as I can. We have many appointments and such to arrange and deal with. She has seen a neurologist in E.R. and we are following up with him. Went to the EEG test yesterday and have to wait a week for results. We saw our primary doctor on Monday. She referred us to a psychologist for therapy. We will be seeing the wife's "woman's health" doctor also. This is going to be one busy month.

I was hoping for a good year. Boy was I wrong.

Oh goody. Look everyone it is New Years. Another holiday for drinking. The last day of the year. Getting out the new calendar is about all the excitement I can stand. I also work tonight.

My wife works too. She is also not feeling great today. Sorry honey.

I am currently installing a new hard drive on my friends computer and setting up the OS. They could not find the motherboard CD, so I get to figure out what drives I need and I am hoping that is easy.

The other night on my day off I got really drunk. I tried to play Halo 2 late that night. I know I did well. I just don't remember it lasting more than a minute. It was Big Team Battle, multi-flag on Waterworks. I killed some people coming to our base to get the flag while other team members managed to snatch enemy flag 3 times. I am thinking it was longer than a minute of game play. My drunken perception was way off and that was all I could handle for the night.

Ok, the OS setup wants my attention. Get the F out of here and find something else to read.

Vodka vs. Whiskey

What is a better hard straight drink? Is it the smooth vodka or the wood flavored whiskey? I know either one can be harsh and evil, but there are the more expensive brands that put out a smooth liquor. Which one do you like? Whiskey or Vodka? What brands have you tried? Or your favorite? TALK TO ME DAMN IT!

Busy days off

Yesterday I bought $15 worth of chocolate to make a candy we saw on the cooking channel. I ended up making the stuff a little thicker than the original version, but it is chocolate. Who is going to complain?

Then I began troubleshooting a friends computer. At this time I have found the hard drive to be the main issue. Everything else is working. My friend says that the problem has gradually gotten worse. Going to get a new hard drive and fix everything.

I am buzzing right now and looking at boobies online. Waiting for the shrimp to defrost before I go make dinner. It is almost ready.

I thought about posting a few times, but then I just did not really care. During most of my free time I played Halo 2. Then there were the holidays which meant family time. I had little to write about other than "I played Halo today and had fun".

I noticed a friend took me off his blog list cause I did not write for awhile. Since he did not write for over 20 days I think I will remove his link from my list. Fair is fair.

Sims 2 craze

I got Sims 2 last week and I am addicted. The amount of manipulation in the game makes it an interesting people farm. The graphics are pretty sweet. In all the entire package is worth the money.

I have been busy creating some social interaction between some families and individual sims. It is time consuming, though fun. Trying to get the aspiration awards has it's' benefits. The cooler of youth is helpful to keep an adult from becoming and elder.

This game gets a 9.5 out of 10.

Anyone else playing this game yet?

Writers Vacation

I have not been in the mood to write anything the past few days. Mostly been relaxing, playing video games and more relaxing. I feel a rested now and up to a posting.

Halo 2 is getting closer and my friends and I are getting antsy to play. Now that I can play over Xbox Live it will be even easier to hook up with them and play when we cannot get together in person. Fun is closing in.

Judy just got over a bad viral infection. Be a few more days before she is feeling normal again. Her endometriosis is still causing pain, but that is a given. She was given a T.E.N.S. unit to help with the pain.

Rebecca has been sick with a stuffy nose. Doctor gave her allergy and then antibiotics to help clear it up. Slowest I have ever seen a cold clear up with meds. She seems to be doing better.

It has been cold here and the heaters have been turned on in the bedrooms to help keep it warm inside. I am missing the summer heat now. With winter coming soon it will be fun to see snow again at least.

Work is still, well, work. Nothing exciting and nothing fun going on. Just the same stuff. I look forward to going home every night I am there. And now it is time to get going. Got to be at work in a few. Bye.

Running and Running and Running

These days all we do is run around town on our days off. We work and then run errands. Doesn't feel much like time off anymore. I will call it extended work.

We go to the physical therapist, doctor appointments, pharmacist, grocery shopping, Christmas shopping, Halloween shopping and god knows what else we can toss in there. We had a parent/teacher conference yesterday. I am beginning to wonder what a day off is like.

I managed to get a little fun in on Tuesday. A friend came over and we played Halo, had a few drinks and ate pizza. He brought over Black Vodka which was very good for a $20 vodka.

Oh, the P.I.C. position went to Bill. He has been with the company for a long time and he had a social quality they wanted to a front end P.I.C.. Maybe next time I will get it. At least I got a good job with good benefits.

Work related humdrum

So, I won a contest at work. I guess it is a contest. You win a prize if your the one with the least money shortage for the quarter. Three people tied and since I had the highest sales of the three I won.

It is $200 cash. After tax it is a bit less though. Then you can set a week of schedule for yourself. Makes no difference to me since I can only work nights opposite of my wife. We are the daycare for our kid.

I filled out and turned in an application of interest for a PIC spot. Several other people applied. I don't really expect to be picked, but I had to try.

That is it for now. Work related news makes my left eye twitch. I better go take some asprin or something.

Not much going on. I took the wife to the massage appointment and now I am watching the construction crew from my window. They are working on sidewalk and entry ways in this section of the apartment complex. Yesterday they were tearing up the old walkways and entry ways. Now the big cement trucks are out there pouring. It will be a few hours before we are able to exit the building. I can leave out the back porch, but the people living on the second floor will be stuck until the crew sets up a temporary cover.

I snapped off a couple of pictures. Which reminds me, I have to set up my photo album again. There are hundreds of pictures and I have to figure out a way to post tme to the net without too much extra work.

I better go pour myself a cup of coffee and think about what I want to do today. Finally not running all over town for a change.

Cooking for Southern Oregon Wine Growers Association

Way back in 1995 a friend, which I went to culinary school with, asked me to help him cook for the Southern Oregon Wine Growers Association(I think that was the title). We drove down past Jackson, Oregon to a small winery where he once lived. The next day we started prepping the food for the dinner.

The menu was nice, but the only thing I recall is the dessert we made. It was a recipe his mother had for a brownie that formed a sauce under the brownie during baking. Here is the recipe for a similar dessert called Warm Brownie Pudding Cake. Oh how yummy it sounds.

I got coffee

I never really enjoyed coffee. The smell, the taste turned me off. I started to drink mocha and grew to like that. The sugar and chocolate tastes so yummy. I slowly learned to tolerate coffee I guess.

Now I drink the stuff so I can wake up. The evils of caffene course through my viens. Once or twice I week I make a pot of coffee before work. My how a body changes as it ages.

This has reminded me of the movie Hackers. In the movie they manage a nice long shot in one scene of a can of Jolt Cola. I had seen Jolt in a 7-11 store a few years back and I thought maybe they still sold it.

What's for dinner?

Tonight I wanted to make a Caesar salad with chicken breast. This is the story of that Caesar salad.

I accidentaly bought the split chicken breast on the rib. I meant to buy boneless, skinless breast. I took care of the rib bone and placed the breast meat into a marinade of vegetable oil, chopped garlic, salt and pepper. That was done earlier to let the meat soak up the flavors.

Near dinner time my wife and I prepped the other ingredients. We cut the tomato, bell peppers, avocado, fresh cooked bacon and romaine. I had cooked off some bacon for other meals later in the week and then used the same pan, sans grease, so the chicken could soak up some of that bacon flavor.

I tossed the chopped romaine with Caesar dressing then plated it. Sliced the chicken and tossed it in the left over dressing in the bowl. Placed that chicken on the romaine. I just sprinkled the tomato, bell pepper, avocado and chopped bacon over the salad. I then dusted it with parmesan cheese and a little dribble of extra Caesar dressing.

Sounds good. Tasted good.

Hexic and Bejewelled

I got hooked on Bejewelled a few years back and just can't help but play a game whenever. Sometimes I try out another game, though Bejewelled is the most fun one I have tried.

One game I did enjoy almost as much as Bejewelled is Hexic. There is something fun going on there I just have not mastered creating the black pearls yet. Tough skill to learn.

Today is chore day. We did the shopping way early. Got the kid off to school then went to the store about 9am. We got home and started laundry, dishes, putting away groceries and vacuuming. I worked on my friend's album design in between and helped him set up a few programs now that he has gotten himself cable internet.

Just went to Target to pick up a tape player for my wife. The hospital sent her home with some relaxation sounds tape. Tape players are cheap these days. One for $5 and another for $10 if you want radio tuner. Music format these days is CD or MP3. I feel old now.

Get out of here. I feel depressed now. Go read some younger persons blog.
